For more than 25 years I ran thousands of workshops and delivered hundreds of lectures on Shakespeare as part of the highly successful education department at Shakespeare's Globe Theatre, working with students from all over the UK and throughout the world. For three years I was director of the annual 'Groundlings on Stage' course of evening classes leading mature students towards a performance on the Globe stage. I have also directed numerous groups of American undergraduates performing scenes from Shakespeare.
Away from the Globe I have led education projects for arts organisations including the Marina Theatre in Lowestoft, Halesworth's Ink Festival, the Theatre Royal in Bury St Edmunds, Regents Park Open Air Theatre, Suffolk Home Educators, Watermill Theatre Newbury, the British American Drama Academy, Proteus Theatre Company, Hastings Festival and the Bremer Shakespeare Company in Germany.
I have led storytelling sessions for numerous schools in Suffolk, Norfolk, Essex and throughout the region. In 2016 I was part of the Norfolk Library Services' Festival of Stories, performing for primary school children and I regularly tell tales for the Marina Theatre in Lowestoft.
In 25 years as an actor I have performed on stage, film, radio and television. My theatre credits have ranged from Alan Ayckbourn to Agatha Christie and from Noel Coward to pantomime. I have performed numerous Shakespearean roles in almost every conceivable location, from the stormy battlements of Guernsey Castle to the stage at Shakespeare's Globe and from the basement of a London pub to a Roman amphitheatre in the Jordanian desert. I have also worked as a clown, juggler, fire-eater and stilt-walker.
I work regularly as a facilitator and role-player teaching communication skills to doctors, nurses and student doctors working and training in the NHS.
If you would like me to share my enthusiasm for storytelling, Shakespeare and all aspects of theatre with your school or organisation, I'd love to hear from you.
